Rasa Across Borders is led by an interdisciplinary team of three 91心頭利 faculty: Dr. Claire Pamment, Associate Professor of Theatre and Performance and Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies in the College of Arts & Sciences; Dr. Diya Bose, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Gender, Sexuality and Women’s Studies, also in the College of Arts & Sciences; and Dr. Indranath Mitra, Assistant Professor of Applied Science in the School of Computing, Data Sciences & Physics. The project exemplifies the kind of cross-disciplinary and cross-school collaboration that lies at the heart of the ASE’s mission, bringing together the humanities, social sciences, and applied sciences to create work that transcends any single field or academic community.
Rasa Across Borders will be performed on Friday, March 27, and Saturday, March 28, both at 6:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre at Phi Beta Kappa Memorial Hall. Free tickets can be acquired . Dr. Shah will respond to the March 27 performance, offering scholarly reflection in conversation with the work and its audience.
Dr. Shah brings a richly complementary outside perspective to this project. An anthropologist and queer feminist scholar, Dr. Shah’s research examines questions of sexuality, gender, migration, and caste capitalism in India and the South Asian diaspora, making them a particularly fitting respondent to a performance that, like their scholarship, crosses disciplinary and national borders.
