Core Considerations for Off-Campus Housing

Safety & Security

Area Transportation

  • WATA (Williamsburg Area Transit Authority) 
    • As a W&M student you can ride any of the bus routes for free in the Williamsburg area with your Tribe Card (Student ID).
  • W&M Parking Permits
    • W&M parking permits can be purchased online. There are different permit options available; many Junior and Senior students that live off campus purchase the Day Commuter decal.
  • Zipcar
    • Zipcar is a self-service rental car program that offers students the opportunity to have access to a car on campus for trips around town and to participate in off-campus activities. 

Meal Access

  • W&M Dining Meal Plan
    • You can purchase a meal plan that complements your trips to the grocery store. The Commuter 25 and the Commuter 50 plans are great choices for Commuter students and Graduate students that plan to eat on campus in between classes.
    • There are plenty of grocery stores to choose from in the Williamsburg area. Check out the link above to see what best matches your needs and budget.

    • SNAP benefits are accepted in the . The Student Exchange offers an assortment of grab 'n go dining options.
    • The Campus Food Exchange is a confidential program that is open to all W&M community members and provides access to nonperishable food and hygiene products.
