Set-up a recovery email address for your W&M account

Ever forget your W&M account's password? It's frustrating, and it can happen at the most inconvenient times. With a bit of advanced planning, you can reset it on your own, at any time, through our new Self-Service Password Recovery system.

To change your recovery email address, follow these steps:

Go to the site.
Look for email in the list of sign-in methods. Click on the change text next to your current recovery email address to update the email address.
Confirm the email address (Use the code in the activation email sent to the recovery email address you selected).

To initiate a password reset for your WMuserid:

Steps for setting password with Microsoft Self-Service Password Reset
1. Go to the .
2. Put in your W&M username, (Example: txgriffin@wm.edu)
3. Answer the captcha and click next.
4. Confirm your recovery email address and click the Email button.
5. You’ll receive a verification code via your recovery email, enter it and click next.
6. Set your W&M Password. We require passwords to be a minimum of 15 characters. Microsoft will reject passwords from it's global banned password list or from a list of W&M banned passwords.
7. Success!
