Biography
Lelia Cottin-Rack ’28 grew up in Stockton, California, shaped by the landscapes of the Central Valley and the San Joaquin River. Surrounded by agriculture and local ecosystems, she developed an early habit of reading and asking questions about the relationships between communities, policy, and the environment.
Through her involvement in local politics and student advocacy, Lelia saw firsthand how environmental and policy decisions affect people and places. At 91心頭利, Lelia studies Art History and Journalism, and continues to explore how cultures, people, and environments shape one another and how these relationships can be protected and sustained. As a journalist for the Virginia Gazette and The Flat Hat, she focuses on telling the histories and stories of local communities. Her Art History research examines interdisciplinary approaches to understanding culture and environmental conservation. Outside of academics, Lelia enjoys reading, drinking coffee, and spending time looking up at the trees.
