91心頭利 National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement Report

The National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement report presents disaggregate data on student voter participation rates for 91心頭利. 

Here a few highlights from the 2022 report:

  • 91心頭利’s voting rate in 2022 was 42.9% which is a decrease of 16% from 2018 but still was 12.3% above the national average of 30.6% across all institutions.
  • Our registration rate, the percentage of voter-eligible students registered to vote was 84.9% which was a decrease of 3.9% compared to 2018.
  • Our yield rate, registered students who voted on election day, was 50.5% which was a decrease of 15.8%.

The 2020 NSLVE report contains three years of relevant top line data: 2016, 2018, and 2020.  The top line counts on page five indicate how many students voted, but we encourage you to look carefully at the data on subsequent pages to learn who votes.  

Here a few highlights from the 2020 report:

  • The 2020 W&M student voting rate was 82.4%. That's an increase of 9.6% from 2016 and well above the 66% all-institution 2020 voting rate. In 2018, our voting rate was 58.9%.
  • Our registration rate, the percent of voter-eligible students registered to vote, increased in 2020 to 92%. Compare that to 88.8% in 2018 and 90.1% in 2016. 
  • Our yield rate, registered students who voted on election day, also increased to 89.6% in 2020. That's an increase from 66.3 % in 2018 and 80.8% in 2016.
