People & Politics

People

A big part of what I do is constantly driven by community-building. My career seems to be headed in the activism trajectory and I hope to use that to help local communities in some way, shape, or form. I run a committee within Alma Mater Productions called AMP Live, which brings live entertainment to campus. We have hosted performers of all walks of life, from musicians to comedians to hypnotists. This role has been really important to me because it has provided me with the ability to provide a platform for performers who reflect groups that have historically been underrepresented in Williamsburg.

Politics

It is important to me that people consistently educate themselves on various topics they may be ignorant about. As a government and English double major, I spend a lot of my time reading different perspectives on various social and political issues. As a summer intern for a U.S. Senator, I regularly communicated with constituents and advocated for issues on behalf of the people in the state. This year, I joined a political science research lab that investigates the way people react in politically contentious environments. Additionally, I will be writing a thesis next year that analyzes white liberalism and its impact on the struggle for racial justice in the United States.
