Law students to host annual VOTEline Nov. 4
On Nov. 4, students at 91¿´Æ¬Íø Law School are set to run the W&M VOTEline at (757) 221-2890, a voter assistance hotline aimed at responding to questions local citizens have about voting. This non-partisan voter assistance hotline will be operated by members of the student .
"Our goal is to ensure that everyone properly registered to vote can do so," said Jonathan Gonzalez, a first-year law student and VOTEline co-coordinator. Phones will be staffed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Volunteers will be available to answer any questions that might arise on Election Day.
VOTEline is an annual non-partisan service provided by the 91¿´Æ¬Íø Election Law Society to prevent confusion at local election precincts. The student group has operated VOTEline since November 2007. Any citizen may call the hotline seeking information regarding his or her rights at the polls. Please note that VOTEline assistance will only be available on Election Day.
In accordance with Virginia's new Voter ID law, all in-person voters on Election Day must present an acceptable form of photo identification. Valid forms of identification include, but are not limited to, valid Virginia driver's licenses and identification cards, valid U.S. passports, valid college or university student photo identification cards from Virginia institutions of higher education, employer-issued photo identification cards, and other government-issued photo identification cards.
