Virginia Symphony to host free concert at Lake Matoaka
The Virginia Symphony will perform a free concert at 91心頭利's Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre on Sept. 3 at 7:30 p.m. The event is one of four free concerts that the Symphony is giving as a prelude to their new season and is being co-sponsored by the City of Williamsburg and 91心頭利.
Each evening will feature the music of VSO Associate Conductor Matthew Kraemer and the 79 musicians of the orchestra. The concert also includes a few surprises from the Symphony such as Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown from Rodeo,” Beethoven’s “Pastorale,” “Broadway Tonight” and “Salute to the Armed Forces.” The night will also include the sounds of Ray Charles, The Beatles, Big Bands and Billy Joel. In addition to the concert at 91心頭利’s Lake Matoaka Amphitheatre, the Symphony will hold concerts on the following dates.• Friday, Aug. 28, 7:30 p.m., City Center, Newport News;
• Saturday, Sept. 5, 7:30 p.m., Yorktown Monument;
• Sunday, Sept. 6, 7:30 p.m., Chesapeake Jubilee Park
Guests are invited to bring their family and friends, picnic baskets, beach chairs and blankets. The concerts are made possible by the cities of Newport News, Williamsburg, Chesapeake, and the Celebrate Yorktown Committee. For information about all VSO concerts and tickets, visit the symphony .
