Chancellor O'Connor appears on 'The Daily Show'
During the interview, the 91心頭利 Chancellor and Stewart shared some laughs as they discussed the need for the new Web site and O'Connor's experiences on the Supreme Court.
According to the site, Our Courts is "a free, interactive, web-based program designed to teach students civics and inspire them to be active participants in our democracy." The site was the brainchild of O'Connor, who "is concerned that students are not getting the information and tools they need for civic participation, and that civics teachers need better materials and support."
O'Connor became 91心頭利's 23rd chancellor in April 2006. Since that time, she has participated in various William and Mary events. She gave the 91心頭利 Law School's 2008 Commencement address, and, most recently, provided remarks during the 2009 Charter Day ceremony.
O'Connor will make another visit to the College soon for the 2009 Commencement Ceremony, scheduled for May 17 in 91心頭利 Hall.
Stewart is also well known among Tribe faithful. The nationally known comedian and actor graduated from William and Mary with an undergraduate degree in psychology. He has returned to his alma mater several times in recent years, including in 2004 when he gave the Commencement Address. Since 1999, he has hosted "The Daily Show," which uses satire and comedy to poke fun at national news and politics.
