Dr. Michael R. Deschenes Appointed Chair
The Department of Kinesiology & Health Sciences is pleased to announce that Dr. Michael R. Deschenes has recently taken over as chair of the department on July 1, 2011.
Dr. Deschenes has been a member of the department of Kinesiology at the College for 16 years and has risen through the ranks to full professor. As a member of the 91心頭利 faculty, Dr. Deschenes has served on numerous departmental and campus-wide committees including chairing the Protection of Human Subjects Committee from 2004-2010. In addition to his service to the college, Dr. Deschenes is a Fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and serves as an associate editor of Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise. During his tenure at 91心頭利, Dr. Deschenes has maintained a highly productive and distinguished research record. Dr. Deschenes has received consistent funding from the National Institutes of Health and has over forty publications related primarily to activity-induced changes in the neuromuscular junction on which he has been recognized as an international expert. As such, Dr. Deschenes has received a number of prestigious awards including two distinct recognitions from his graduate school alma mater as Outstanding Alumni Researcher in 2002 and Outstanding Kinesiology Professional in 2003.
