Contacts with Hispanic Culture and the Spanish Language on the W&M Campus

CPALS (Community Partnership for Adult Learners).

is a student-run organization that offers free English language classes for the local community. CPALS evolved from a Hispanic Studies freshman seminar taught by Prof. Jonathan Arries (emeritus) with support from the Sharpe Community Scholars Program. Classes meet during the fall and spring semesters. Volunteers are welcome to help during the one-on-one tutoring that follows large-group instruction each night.

Latin American Student Union

Founded in 2009, LASU has remained committed to its mission statement of "Creating Community while Embracing and Bringing Awareness to Latine Culture." Whether that is through cultural, educational, social, and service events to foster a more tight-knit community while also advocating for the contemporary issues affecting Latin America and Latine communities in the US. Though LASU is Latine-based, LASU is NOT Latine-exclusive, and we welcome all students to join us regardless of background. Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA)

The Association of Latino Professionals for America (ALPFA) at 91心頭利 helps students launch their careers by connecting them with internships, career development opportunities, and full-time roles at leading firms. The chapter brings together undergraduate and graduate students to build professional skills, expand their networks, and prepare for leadership across many fields. Through cultural and community events, ALPFA also builds a strong sense of community known as the “ALPFAmilia,” a supportive network that celebrates Latino heritage while welcoming any student interested in professional growth. For more information: || || .

Sigma Delta Pi (Hispanic Honorary Society)

, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society, is a non-profit organization founded at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1919. Sigma Delta Pi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies, and partners with professional organizations such as the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, and the International Association of Hispanists. Membership benefits include undergraduate study abroad awards.
