Senior Emma Henry garnered one of 91心頭利s largest awards before graduating last month a $40,000 H. Mason Sizemore, Jr. Journalism Fellowship for graduate studies at Northwestern Universitys renowned Medill School of Journalism in the fall.

The Global Middle East: Tyler Lecture Series

Please note that the keynote address is from 5-6:30pm on April 3, followed by a performance by the Middle East Music Ensemble. The three panels on April 4 are scheduled from 9:30am to 6:30pm. The final panel is in honor of our late colleague, Abdul-Karim Rafeq.

Since 2002, almost 2,300 high school students from around the world have traveled to 91心頭利 each summer to absorb the regions history through the National Institute of American History & Democracys Pre-College Program (NIAHD). When they leave, theyve not only learned about the history of the region but also about the craft of history how to analyze and interpret evidence as a historian.

Book Talk and Careers Panel

Next week is busy! Please consider attending yourself and tell your students about next week's book talk with W&M alum Lauren Braun-Strumfels '01. The title of her book is Partners in Gatekeeping: How Italy Shaped U.S. Immigration Policy over Ten Pivotal Years, 1891-1901. The talk will take place next Thursday, April 4, at 3:30pm in Blair 229. At 9:30am in the Blair 206, Lauren, along with Kyle Strumfels '01, and Gabriel DiMeglio, one of the Tyler lecturers, will talk about how they use their history training in careers.

U.S Mission in Nigeria Awards Grant for Preservation of Nigerian Cultural Monument

The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has awarded a grant of $400,000 for the conservation of the late 14th century Sungbo Eredo Earthworks of the Yoruba Ijebu Kingdom in Nigeria. This is the largest Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) grant in Nigeria and the second-largest in sub-Saharan Africa.
