The proposal will be discussed further in the spring semester. Draft of GER 2 proposal prepared by Debbie Bebout and Barbara Watkinson: The draft was passed out by hand to members. After a short discussion, the EPC members agreed to put the proposal on hold until the spring semester. The main concern centers on whether the GER 2 committees suggestions will narrow the breadth of this requirement too much. Concentration Writing requirement: Joan is working on a draft letter that will be sent to the chairs and program directors in the spring. Joan requested that EPC members send her any input that they might have on the letter. Schedule meeting time for Spring semester: Joan said that 2:00 pm on Fridays looks acceptable for the EPC spring meetings, but she needs to contact Ruth Beck and Mike Finn before she can schedule a final date and time. Joan announced that the proposal to eliminate the Physical Activity requirement was passed by the Arts and Sciences faculty at the December 3rd meeting. This action eliminated the Physical Activity requirement, but it did not affect the requirement that students must have 120 credit hours to graduate or that students are permitted to count up to 4 physical activity credits toward the 120 (up to 6 credits for Kinesiology majors). The Kinesiology Department has requested that the EPC consider a proposal to change the 4-hour physical activity credit limit toward the 120 graduation requirement. They hope to present their proposal to EPC in Spring 2003. The meeting adjourned at 3:30 pm.
