Internships for Students

Study possibilities exist with the art and architectural resources of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and other art museums throughout the region.

A number of work possibilities exist through the Student Aid Program, affording students experience in assisting with the art, art history and museum programs.

In addition to regular classes, workshops in various media are offered annually, usually in connection with exhibitions and symposia. The department hosts a lively Faculty Lecture Series complimented by distinguished visiting artists and scholars from across the nation and abroad.

Internships:

The museums listed below often offer internship opportunities, though many are unpaid. Cohen Career Center is another resource you can use to find internships. If your internship can include a research component, you might be able to earn academic credit for your work.

Art Museum Internship Opportunities

Note: many of these opportunities are unpaid.  The following list is not comprehensive, so there may be additional opportunities at other institutions not included here.  Before applying, be sure to determine application deadlines and request any letters of recommendation from faculty members or other referees well in advance (ideally at least two or three weeks).

Visit the Charles Center's Woody Internships in Museum Studies page.
